like most days...

i have laundry to do.

but i can see the bottom of the pile
{what? you don't find maxi pads, a cheerio encrusted spoon, magazine pull outs, hot wheels, baby dolls, travel tooth paste, a flute holder thingy and super man gear at the bottom of your baskets? what's wrong with you?!}

2 cups down.  still sluggish.

like most other day ,this little one is very proud at his reading skills.

he said "mom, do you remember in the beginning when i was just learning words like am?"
to which the three year old replies "like in ammo?"
oh ya, teaching them great things we are;)
 {last night, #3 said "is it like your voice box forgot it's job?" in reference to laryngitis.}

unfortunately, when you do manage to get to the bottom of the laundry pile, the worst is yet to come.
there's a chair somewhere under there. it may be MIA for a few days. {like most other days}

like most other days,
this has already been administered once.
and threatened twice.
i'm great at threats.
it was either become a mom or a hostage holder.
but i'm pretty much a push over, so mom it was.

like most other days,
cuddles with giraffey.

not like most other days...
ugly carrot muffins for my breakfast.
while not pretty, they were pretty tasty.
no dairy, rice flour and farva bean flour!

i love that the monkeys {especially the oldest, like most other days, ask for tea.  he usually drinks a few cuppas daily!}

once again, scary looking, but yummy!  kale chips!

like most other days,
these babies will be brought down at least once.
notice the one on it's side?
ya, it no longer has a stand from being dropped repeatedly.

like most other days,
i'll also see this bear grylls pocket knife at least 20 more times.
we're only at three so far.

like most other days,
this darling impresses/scares me  with her wardrobe selections.
always fun to see what she comes up with.

and i don't want my kids to look back on this blog one day and think i hated their pets{because that's only kind of sort of, 90 % true}, so here

like most other days
my plans for tonight include a little reading and a movie.
we're working through north and south. if you love bbc productions, or anything like jane austen, give the elizabeth gaskell ones a go.
so grateful i have a hubby that likes my chick flicks.
it's a fair trade.  i love john wayne and shoot em up movies too.

also like most other days,
i am totally blessed...

blessings,
mandy

looking very irritated he says ,
"MOM, i'm playing rock, paper, scissors."

a good job...

total and complete randomness coming your way...

  • my daughter saw a hitch hiker last night.  she asked why he was telling us 'good job'
  • a movie i loved?
the Last Legion.
yes, it's from years ago, but when i find a gem i like to pass it on.
i love movies from ancient Rome.
this had a unique twist.

  • i also loved :
and no, i'm not 15.
but i really did like it : D.
***always read reviews for yourself, to determine whether it's appropriate for your viewing***
i use plugged in online, you can find the link in my sidebar.

  • mother's day was not fantastic.  i think i'll leave it at that.
  • my goal was to loose 15 lbs before June 1st.
so far i've gained 3.

  • one of the biggest delights in my life is laying on a blanket, out in freshly mowed grass reading a book.

Where are the people?

This kid...
the one right here?

He's always said the darn cutest things.

@ 2 he says:"Do i got batteries that make me work?"

@ 3 : we had contact paper in our kitchen cabinets with geese on it.  He pulls it and realizes  it sticks and says (in an epiphany type voice)""OH! So this is duck tape!"

@ 4:  " I finally figured out pork chops!"
aka-chopsticks:)

@5: "Why do they call an alarm clock going off if it actually is going on?"

@ 6:  "I really want a bikini"  uh...
aka- zuchini

@7: " pink camo is not camo because it doesn't camoflauge a darn thing"

TODAY @ 8:

doing
"here is the church, here is the steeple,
open it up...
(realizes he did it wrong and his fingers aren't where they should be)...

Oh, it must be Friday!"  :)

Mandy

momism:  if you have ever been so tired that brushing teeth or peeing before bed when you have to go is optional, you are a mother:)

quickly...

Monkey #1 told his sister that we would have foolish dogs for dinner tonight...well son, actually that would be Polish dogs.

foolish of us from the artery blocking view point yes...

and Monkey #3 said "hey mom, do you know what Hell is probably like?"
 me:speechless
him: "I think it's like getting thrown into water without your lifejacket".

how profound is that??!!
from a 3 yr old.
out of the blue.
and no we don't walk around preaching fire and damnation.
Have NO idea where that came from...
but I'd say he's pretty darn wise...

My baby girl will be 6 in just a few short hours...

where did the time go?

Mandy

funny boy...

picture from a hike in Jan. 2010

he asks me everyday now:

why do you think they call skyscrapers skyscrapers?

why do you think they call a 2 wheeler a 2 wheeler?

why do you think they call oranges oranges?

and so on.
anything he can think of.
and then you answer.
and he tells you if you are wrong or right.
(because he is the authority...
and don't try to argue with him...
trust me.  He'll win)

and the other morning when I woke up the middle 2 monkeys where sitting on the couch having an incredibly heated argument as to whether Santa is magic or not.

Mind you, the fight was not whether he was real, but whether or not he was magic.

Because of course he's real.

God Bless,
Mandy

p.s.  does anyone know what I can give my littlest monkey to make him sleep through the night?
Like sudafed? Vodka?
I'm totally joking.  I was leaning more towards melatonin.
Kinda...
(and if yours slept through the night at 2 weeks you can stop reading this now because I plain and simple don't like you)     :)

Ugh.

1. So I know I stink at this blogging thing.  I'll try to do better.  No really.  It comes right after finding time to sleep and shower.  THEN I can find the time to do this.   But I do want to update once a week...baby steps...

2. I have been working out, watching what I eat, really honest to goodness trying.  Guess how much weight I've lost already.  Drumroll please....
2lbs.  Nope not kidding.  The scale has consitistently 2 lbs. lower.  After an entire month and week of working hard.  I'm not about to give up though, I have to loose it by my 10 yr anniversary in Aug.  That's the goal!!

3.  Our poor lil kitty was really sick when I woke up yesterday.  Lethargic, dizzy, pretty much a mess.  Today when I woke up she was dead on the bathroom floor.  We had just had her fixed 2 weeks ago and from what I've read online we're assuming she died of accute kidney failure as a post reaction to the anesthesia.  I woke Monkey 1 up to tell him first, knowing he'd take it the hardest,  then told the other monkeys all together.   I'm not a big animal lover, but made me so sad to see my babies sad.  Poor lil Violet.  She'll be missed.

4.  Okay...kids...Monkey # 1:  Had a tree planting field trip last week I got to chaperone.    A wii addict.  Loving the choose your own adventure books (they just released some for younger kids).  Won't stop antagonizing Monkey #3.  Signed up for Minors Baseball.  Still has the cutest freckles you ever did see...and loves mom pointing it out constantly:).

Monkey #2: Lost another tooth,  and this is always followed by a pack of gum bought with the tooth fairy $.  The pack of gum is gone by the next day . every. single. time.
Having some problems with a girl @ school being mean, makes my heart sad.  Becoming quite the little artist.

Monkey #3:  Very first trip to the Library last week.  When he saw the flags he said, "look mom an American flag and a pirate flag." to which I said  " it's the Oregon flag."...to which he said " nuh -uh.  I know what a pirate flag is!" :)
And he remembers every dance move the backyardigans bust out. and every lyric they sing.

Monkey #4:  WILL NOT STOP NURSING!!!  He's seriously like a newborn, up every 2 hrs or so.  and he SCREAMS bloody murder which wakes the rest of the people in our house up.  So yes, then I give in and complain about it anyways.  Even lemon juice wasn't a deterent.  He takes his diaper off constantly.  He gives loves like crazy.  He makes silly faces constantly and thinks it's funny to act mad.

5.  Need a date with my husband.  Really need some time for just us.  I miss him...

God Bless,
 Mandy

anyone want some fish crackers?

momism:  you know you're a mom if you've ever had to explain what  ovaries are because you had to drag your kids to your gynocologist visit.

Christmas Picture Outake!-I'd rather take pictures of ANY kids other than my own!

1.  I am now 29 years old...some days it feels 79!  I guess that's what happens when you don't get more than 2 hrs of straight sleep in almost 10 yrs.  Spent the day yesterday as usual, home with the kids,Honey @ work.  The kids each bought me another lil birdy to add to my collection which they were very excited about (from the dollar store).  Then Mimi came and watched them while Honey and I went out for Mexican food and saw Old Dogs.  Cute movie.  Then we came home, had cake the kiddos made and went to bed!  29 is gonna be a good year for me!

2.  Monkey 3 refered to the spider in my jacket as a coyote spider ( instead of a wolf spider.)

3.  So glad my mom knows when I need a break, even when I don't tell her.  She came and stole the kids away for a few hours the other day so I could have some peace.  Thanks Mom

4.  Have too many ideas racing through my head of fun vintage projects do, make or try.  Like I have the time for more hobbies!  But checking out some blogs/online shops have the juices flowing!

5.  Instead of braving the cold for the parade tonight we stayed home and played hide n' seek with a flashlight.   That's so much better anyways!

God Bless,

Mandy

Momism:  If your printer stops working, you may want to check it for rocks ;)  This was today @ my house!

1.  Whenever Monkey 3 pretends he is a pirate (which is multiple times a day)  he says "Ahoy Ladies" instead of 'mateys', too stinkin cute!

2.  Monkey 2 calls chihuauas (sp?)   Chick-a-wah-wahs!...also too cute

3.  I have decided that waiting for my kids to cooperate while I excercise is just pointless.  They will run around or cry @ my feet if I try to do a video, they can't keep up on a walk and wouldn't stay in a kid center if I got a gym membership...solution?  well this morning I rode my stationary bike for 40 min while holding and tickling Monkey 4.  A  mom must do what it takes right?

4.  Lovin that lil Monkey 2 is so excited for school.  She whines on days when she doesn't go, wakes up ready to roll when it is a school day and asks to do homework all the time...praying it lasts the next 12 years  :)

5.  Getting the Christmas decorations out and will put them up this week!  The kids and I made our own ornaments with vintage images and glitter!  Have I mentioned that Honey despises glitter?  No, really...he thinks it is evil and should be banned, I however love it.  We may end up in counseling over it :)

So I always get these ideas in my head that I call 'momisms'- things only moms would do, say or think.  Honey keeps saying I should write a book with them...instead I will give a 'momism' each post.  Exciting for the one person who reads this on occasion huh?  How can you contain yourself?   In the spirit of Jeff Foxworthy...

MOMISM OF THE DAY:   You may be a  mother if you have ever found yourself scrubbing the bathroom sink while using the toilet.  Moms are amazing multitaskers what can I say:)!

God Bless,
Mandy

1.   I ran away last night. yep, for a whole 45 minutes I ran to Fred Meyers all by myself.  I never do anything by myself, but last night I was going to loose it if I didn't get out...and we needed bread so I had an excuse.  It's sad that 45 minutes walking around the grocery store all by myself is so theraputic but it worked and I came home refreshed!

2. Monkey #1 says last night " I don't want to go to school tomorrow"
me: "sorry, you don't have a choice"
Monkey 1:  "yeah...unless I want to be a hobo"

he cracks me up

3.I think the Smuckers andes choc mint hot fudge is some of the best stuff ever.

4.Went Christmas shopping on Monday with my sister and got a good start on gifts.  I could live in Target. Love that store.

5.Monkey #1 says that Sun. @ Mimi's house was his best day ever!  Running around wiith his cousins in the woods shooting bebe guns and exploring like young boys should.  I am glad he has that memory...

God Bless, Mandy
