a right of passage...

the # 1 monkey has just passed a significant milestone for his dad's side of the family.
he shot his very first deer!

i am so proud of him.
he really is a wise and old soul.
we have had several struggles with him recently and i know this is just the thing he needed right now.
my husband's family has been hunting these same places since the early 1900s and it is a family affair with all the men, uncles, cousins, grandpa, and distant relatives coming together each fall. i love that aiden gets to be a part of all that.
i know these memories will be with him a lifetime.

at the cabin...

we are very blessed that my husband's family has this little slice of heaven to escape to each year.
it's been in their family since the 1930s,
and it's a treasure.
this is a heavy picture post!

weekend away...

this is generally the only kind of shots of me on these trips...

and the ones of honey always seem to say"you are lucky i adore you so much mandy or that camera would be swimming with the seals"

yes, my 9 year old is a pyro in the making.
perhaps my nagging him every 2.5 seconds will help his wisdom in the future.
no?
i think i heard "i know mom (insert eye roll)" every 3 seconds.

it rained.
just the drizzly kind.
it was perfect.
when i come into the money i'm buying a house on the Southern Oregon coast.
just don't hold your breaths.

God Bless,
Mandy

hello there...

what a great weekend i had.
my husband and i got to head out of town while mil had the kiddos here at our house.
we went up to salem to see a  Tim Hawkins  comedy show.
he is a hilarious Christian comedian, if he's coming near your town-
get tickets!  it's good clean comedy,
it was nice to see families there with their children and enjoy a laugh (or a lot of laughs!).

of course i didn't get any pictures of the entire weekend:(!

on the way home on saturday we stopped in a historic town of Coburg to do some antiquing.
what a lovely little town!
we sat in the tiny diner (one of only 2 restaurants)
while 3 elderly men met for breakfast each with a box of bicycle cards along, and ate while they played a few hands of cards.
i loved it.
i felt like i was in the 1950s small town America.

i'll show you the treasures we came home with:

i don't like flowers or anything. : D
the only plates i ever buy are the ones under $2 that usually have chips or cracks.
cuz i'm cheap like that and i dwell in the imperfect.

how was your weekend?

God Bless,
mandy
